About Us
Hoops Club is dedicated to providing an opportunity
for skilled players to take a step beyond the Community Services and
in-house basketball programs and participate in club level basketball
competition. In addition to teaching kids the game of basketball , we
also strive to make sure that kids who have the desire to play high
school basketball are given the opportunity to build their skills in
order to compete at the high school level. FLHC organizes coordinates and oversees the selection,
development and participation of boys and girls teams competing at the
5th through 9th grade levels. This opportunity is offered to athletes
residing in or attending school in District 831. FLHC teams play in tournaments or leagues that fit the
level of playing ability of each team. The majority of tournaments are
played in the twin cities area and require a minimum commitment of 6
tournaments and a maximum of 13. The number of tournaments entered depends
on the coach, who may ask for input from parents. The 5th and 6th grade
teams will not be entered in more than 10 tournaments during a season.
This equates to 2 tournaments a month. Some tournaments are single day,
some require a Friday to Sunday commitment. In a typical tournament
teams will play twice on Saturday and once on Sunday. The Hoops club season runs from November 1 through the
third week in March. Some teams choose to play in fall and/or spring
AAU tournaments. AAU is an additional playing opportunity that is always
an option for players from any area. See http://myas.org
for more information on AAU. Forest Lake often has teams competing in
AAU fall and or spring leagues, but participation is optional. The emphasis at the beginning levels in club basketball
are fundamentals, basic skills, and learning the game of basketball.
As teams grow older they become more competitive and emphasis is on
doing well in tournaments. The Forest Lake Hoops Club is committed to producing fundamentally skilled players with an emphasis put on sportsmanship, work ethic, and being a team player. FLHC strives to provide a favorable atmosphere to develop these traits in each boy and girl who participates in the program. FOR MORE INFORMATION ON TRYOUTS, COST AND OTHER DETAILS CLICK HERE.
